Executive Summary

The Neo Youth Foundation is proud to propose an ongoing initiative aimed at sponsoring hifth students from South Africa to lead Taraweeh Salah in Chile during the blessed month of Ramadan. Since its inception in 2022, this initiative has successfully sent 12 hufaadth, with a total of R380,000 raised and used to cover their travel, accommodation, and living expenses.

This initiative seeks to support the growing Muslim community in South America, where the seeds of Islam are beginning to flourish once again after nearly two centuries of historical challenges. By providing spiritual leadership through qualified hufaadth, we aim to strengthen the local community and promote the teachings of the Quran.

Our financial goal for the upcoming phase of this initiative is R440,000, which will cover all necessary expenses for the next group of hifth students.

Why This Initiative?

Historically, the message of Islam reached South America at the same time as it did in South Africa, yet it struggled to establish a strong presence. Today, we see a renewed interest in Islam, with communities slowly forming and spreading across the continent.

This initiative addresses the urgent need for spiritual guidance and leadership within the Muslim community in Chile, empowering them through the teachings of the Quran. By sponsoring hifth students to lead Taraweeh Salah, we aim to create a lasting impact that carries the community through to the next Ramadan and beyond.

Objectives

To sponsor qualified Hifth students from South Africa to lead Taraweeh Salah in Chile during
Ramadan.
To strengthen the local Muslim community through spiritual leadership and engagement.
To promote the message of Islam and the teachings of the Quran in South America.

Our Target Audience

Hifth Students: Young individuals who have successfully memorized the Quran and are committed to leading prayers.
Muslim Community in Chile: Beneficiaries who receive spiritual guidance and support from the leadership of Hufaadth.

How We Implement the Initiative

Selection Process: We select Hifth students based on their Quran memorisation level, commitment to community service, and application process, reviewed by a selection committee.
Logistics: The Neo Youth Foundation manages all travel arrangements, accommodation, and local support for the Hifth students in Chile, ensuring a smooth experience.
Duration: The initiative takes place during Ramadan, with specific travel dates to be determined.

Budget & Funding

Our estimated budget for the initiative is R440,000, which covers:

Travel expenses (flights, visas)
Accommodation costs
Daily living expenses (meals, transportation)
Community support and engagement activities

We seek funding through donations, sponsorships from local businesses, and community fundraising events.

About the Project

The NYF Eastridge Centre is to be developed on a vacant which has been donated to the nyfasa waqf, for the purpose of establishing a madrassah. However, based on our exploration of the area and neighborhood, as well as engaging with the residents and local community leaders and organizations within the area, it was determined that due to The high levels of unemployment and prevalent social ills, that the Proposed NYF Eastridge Centre will also include a soup kitchen on the property, which will form part of the madrasah, to feed people in need regardless of their circumstances. In addition to the madrasah and soup kitchen, the NYF Eastridge Centre will also housea resident scholar/teacher, who will Manage the operations of the centre, as well as safeguarding the property and its asset

The Neo Youth Foundation's Eastridge Centre will be of immense benefit to the community of Eastridge.

The Madrasah

We envisage that, through the holistic islamic education-Al programs and life-skills approach, children and youth will be better equipped and empowered to access and seize the opportunities available to the minor der to improve themselves. With that, families will be strengthened as parents will be part of learnings and programs as a means of assisting them to play an important role in the improved development and wellness of their children and themselves. Our children and youth will develop hard and soft skills, knowledge, and important social aspects which they require to thrive in the 21st-century and be a benefit to their community

Therefore we are appealing to you for financial assistance in this project, by assisting us you are assisting communities, touching hearts and changing lives.

The Land

Soup Kitchen

With the establishment of the soup kitchen, warm healthy and nutritious meals will be providedatno cost to the community, but mostly the vulnerable of the community; children, youth and the elderly. Thus improving their quality of life and restoring their dignity. The soup kitchen will be sustained through collaboration and establishing partnership with and committed and compassionate volunteers, as well as by the generous contributions of donors, that will ensure the community’s needs are taken care of.

The centre will strive to better the lives of many. However, in order for us to bring our intentions to reality it will cost us R800,000 to get the centre up.

Scholars play an important role in our communities and this role is encapsulated in the words of Sayyidatunā Khadījah when she said to the beloved Messenger of Allāhﷺ:

“…You maintain good relations with your kith and kin, you help the poor and the destitute, you serve your guests generously and you assist those who are calamity afflicted.”

Our scholars play that role, they are there to look after others, however they also need to be looked after just like the companions did for the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ.

The Islamic Scholars & Students Support has been assisting eligible scholars and students since 2020, we have distributed R378,960.00 to 10 scholars and 18 students. Our wish is to provide our scholars and students the ability to dedicate themselves to their inherited mission of calling to Allāh and the preservation and spread of Islām.
